Center for Violence Prevention & Self Defense Appoints National Public Safety Leader Andrew DeMuth to Advisory Board

Veteran law enforcement executive and leadership expert brings more than 30 years of crisis management, violence prevention, and organizational leadership experience.

The Center for Violence Prevention & Self Defense (CVPSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew DeMuth to its Advisory Board, further strengthening the organization's mission to advance evidence-based violence prevention, crisis response, and staff-centered safety strategies across healthcare, education, government, and community organizations.

Andrew DeMuth is a nationally recognized leadership consultant, veteran law enforcement executive, and founder of Leading Blue, a premier professional development organization that provides high-performance leadership training to federal, state, and local public safety agencies.

His clients have included the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Boston Police Department, and numerous state and municipal law enforcement agencies.

With more than three decades of experience in public safety, organizational leadership, and crisis management, DeMuth has built a career focused on developing resilient leaders capable of making critical decisions under pressure while fostering cultures of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Prior to founding Leading Blue, DeMuth served more than 25 years with the Freehold Borough Police Department, retiring as Detective Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished career, he led complex criminal investigations, coordinated incident response for major public events, supervised tactical and legal training initiatives, and played a significant role in school security planning and active shooter preparedness.

His operational experience also includes serving on both the federal Violent Gang Task Force and the County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force, where he worked on high-priority investigations targeting violent crime and organized criminal activity.

Beyond enforcement operations, DeMuth has remained deeply committed to education and leadership development. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at Southern New Hampshire University and Middlesex County College, teaching criminal justice, leadership, and critical communication. He also previously served on the Transformative Leadership Advisory Council for the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University.

His extensive experience in both frontline operations and executive leadership training will help ensure CVPSD's programs remain grounded in real-world best practices while preparing organizations to respond effectively to evolving safety challenges.
