BEAVER COUNTY, PA - The Center for Violence Prevention and Self-Defense (CVPSD) recently hosted a Conflict IQ for Workplace Violence Prevention: Practical Tools for Managing Challenging Behavior training class for the Beaver County Collaborative Action Network (BCCAN) Foundation.
The training brought together community leaders and organizational staff members for an immersive, skills-based learning experience designed to improve safety, stability, and effectiveness across the nonprofits that serve Beaver County.

About BCCAN
BCCAN (Beaver County Collaborative Action Network Foundation) is a committee-advised fund of the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its website serves as a valuable information and referral source to assist individuals and organizations throughout the region.
Purpose of the Training
The Conflict IQ Training for the Workplace adapts proven principles from conflict management, situational awareness, and behavioral de-escalation into strategies that are developmentally appropriate for workplace and social environments. The program is designed to give team members practical tools they can implement immediately in real-life situations, with an emphasis on empowerment, not just policy.
Participants were equipped with skills to:
• Recognize early warning signs of escalating behavior
• Respond to challenging situations calmly and effectively
• Maintain structure and authority in high-pressure moments
• Set clear and consistent boundaries
• Support workplace goals while preserving safety and stability
“This training focuses on empowerment, giving staff resources they can implement immediately in real-life situations. Our goal is to ensure that every team member walks away with the confidence and the competence to handle workplace conflict before it escalates.”
